The Switch

It made sense at the time, or at least I thought it did.  My oldest daughter who has been living away at college for the past three years decided to move back home while she finishes her degree.  Not a problem, after all I do have four bedrooms.  Wait, prior to college daughter telling me she wanted to move back I told high school daughter she could move into the larger bedroom.  Ok, still not a problem.   High school daughter can still move into the larger bedroom and college daughter can take the smaller bedroom.

So, last Saturday we started moving high school daughter's stuff into the larger bedroom and college daughter's stuff into the other bedroom.  Why did I pick the weekend my son was going to be gone to an A&M game (I know a Sooners fan at an Aggies game...I guess it was the thrill of going to visit a friend there and have a guys weekend).  We finally got the stuff in the correct bedroom, sorta if you don't count all of the stuff that was piled in my two living areas.

Yep, not only did I tell high school girl she could move into the larger bedroom but I told her we would paint it.  Yep, Sunday afternoon we began priming the walls.  Apparently the shade of brown on the walls is "depressing".  I don't even remember the actual color but this is close.
The shelves and the bathroom walls in "Famen Temple" were not appealing either.

No, she stuck with her favorite, "Poetic" for the bedroom

And she decided to use a new color, "Jonquils" for the bathroom

We worked after lunch on Sunday until it was time to go to church.  Because we were covering a brown we decided to prime the walls first so we would not have to put as many coats of  the poetic blue.  We got over half of the walls primed.  Not a bad start.

Monday high school girl stayed in her room.  She had had some upsetting news about a young girl in her youth group so I decided to give her some time to process.  At least that is what I thought was going on.   By Tuesday after school she was running over 101 temperature and in bed crashed.  I took her to the doctor Wednesday.  She had another sinus infection and strep throat.  Definitely no painting for her.  I gave it a couple of days but she wasn't feeling any better.  Finally on Friday I returned to the painting (with all of those books and other junk I mean stuff piled in my living areas).

After several hours the bedroom walls are done.  Now I only have the shelves, baseboards and trim, and the bathroom walls.  Oh, and move all of that stuff out of my living areas and into their rooms.  I am pretty sure the college girl's room will be next but first let me take a VERY LONG nap!

Hey Penny, thanks for your comments on my blog. Wish Martha were closer to Patricia so they could spend time together, but looks like they will have to wait until holidays. I think Martha and Hannah are planning to be in Dallas/Ft. Worth for Christmas. Hope you get done with the painting. That's a chore!
