Recently a situation came up where a map was needed. A co-worker was quick to go to Google maps. This search lead to the discovery that our homes were actually listed on the internet for people to see, courtesy of Google Maps. We both thought this an invasion of privacy especially since we never knew the pictures were being taken by a someone driving around the neighborhood with a camera.
If you are wondering if your home is online, go to Google maps and type in your address. When the map comes up click street view. Hopefully you are not outside in your PJ's! Also, as you may already know if you were to Google your home number and your number is not unlisted then your name, address, and even a map will come up for the search. If this is something you would rather be hidden, there are two things you can do.
First, contact your phone company and have your number changed to unlisted.
Second, go to the following websites and follow the opt-out instructions.
